The Grounds Committee is responsible for all of the church grounds beyond the perimeter of the building. This includes the lawn, trees and beds, and paved lots and driveways. We oversee work done by lawncare, landscaping and snow removal as well as hiring these professionals.
The committee organizes an annual grounds clean-up day to clean beds, rake leaves and spread mulch. This is usually done in the spring shortly before Easter to beautify the grounds. This project typically brings from 40 to 50 volunteers for about three hours on a Saturday morning.
Committee members and "Weekly Weeders" meet in the three summer months to work for two hours on Wednesday mornings pulling weeds, pruning, watering and planting annuals that have been selected by the committee. We are proud of our grounds and like to keep them looking good as we are in a highly visible location. We also enjoy the three months of "Garden Worship" and feel responsible for keeping it a lovely experience for all.
New members are always welcome to join. For further information, please contact Jan McCune.
